ד"ר רונית ובמן שפרן היא ראש החוג לשפה וספרות אנגלית ומרצה לבלשנות בחוג. בעלת תואר ראשון ושני בבלשנות אנגלית מהאוניברסיטה העברית ותואר דוקטור בבלשנות מאוניברסיטת העיר ניו–יורק (Graduate Center, City University of New York). עבודת הדוקטור שלה עסקה בעיבוד תחבירי ופרוזודיה של משפטים בעלי צירוף יחס כפול. תחום המחקר העקרי שלה הוא הבנת משפטים, ובפרט, עיבוד תחבירי (parsing), פרוזודיה, וממשק התחביר-פרוזודיה. בנוסף, היא עוסקת בחקר פרגמטיקה רב לשונית.
