Beit Berl Graduates Win Big at 2022 Docaviv Film Festival!

Congratulations to Beit Berl graduate Itamar Alcalay whose film, The Camera of Dr. Morris, won Best Film in the Docaviv Film

Festival, Tel Aviv's largest film and the only festival in Israel dedicated exclusively to documentary films. Itamar and co-Director Meital Zvieli tell the story of a young British couple who begin their new lives Israel's southernmost city of Eilat in the 1950's. For decades, Dr. Morris filmed his family: the births and deaths, joys and tragedies, dramas and quiet days spent in the sun. Together with the Morris family, Itamar and Meital created a spectacular work through Dr. Morris' forgotten films about an ordinary family and the extraordinary experiences unfolding in the heat of the Israeli desert.

Congratulations to Beit Berl graduate Orr Weisberg on winning 3rd place in the student film competition of the Docaviv Film Festival for his film, Everybody Knows Jack. Based on a true story, Orr documents the gentle bond between a father and his autistic stepson who suffers from the severe degenerative disease, Hunter Syndrome. In his film, Orr succeeds in creating intimacy between his protagonists, while raising questions for the viewers about the essence of love and the right to life.
