Solo exhibitions of his works have been exhibited all over the world, including a retrospective at the Pompidou Center in Paris (2018), a retrospective at Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw, a solo exhibition at Iniva, London and many others. His films have won numerous awards, including the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at the Venice Film Festival for his film "Out" (2010). Several comprehensive programs have been devoted to Rosen's cinematic output, including full retrospectives at the La Roche-sur-Yon Festival, France (2013), the FICUNAM Festival, Mexico City (2018), and the Pompidou Center, as part of his extensive solo exhibition at the Museum, "Stories in the Dark" (2018).

Rosen's text and painting installation "Live and Die as Eva Brown" provoked public and political controversy when it was first shown at the Israel Museum (1997). It has since been recognized as a groundbreaking work in the field of Holocaust representation, and has been exhibited in Berlin, New York, London, Warsaw, and in 2017 as part of the Documenta 14 international exhibition.

Rosen is known for his preoccupation with fictional characters, and the combination of documentary and fiction. He devoted nearly a decade to producing the life-work of the Belgian-Jewish author Justine Frank. The project included not only paintings and drawings, but also a book, "Sweet Sweat," containing her biography, a research paper on her work, and even the pornographic novel she allegedly wrote.

The artist's books include: "Justine Frank, Sweet Sweat" (Babylon, 2001, and in English, Sternberg, 2009), "Vladimir's Night" (Sternberg Press, 2014), "Lucy" (Hebrew, 2000, Shadorian Press), "The Blind Merchant", an early artist's book adapted from Shakespeare's The Merchant  of Venice and published by Sternberg, 2016, a selection of Rosen's screenplays and political articles under the title "Live and Die as Eva Brown and Other Intimate Stories" (2018).

Roee Rosen's current projects are "Kafka for Kids", a full-length musical and accompanying exhibition, and an artist's book called "Lucy is Sick".
