Dr. Boaz Lev Tov completed his studies in the Department of Jewish History at Tel Aviv University. His doctoral thesis, supervised by Prof. Anita Shapira, examined leisure-time patterns among Jews in Palestine in the late Ottoman period. His research specialization is the social and cultural history of Jews and Palestinians in the late Ottoman period and the British Mandate period.
In recent years Boaz has headed the Department of History at Beit Berl College, as well as the Time Tunnel Project – an academic, educational, and public project devoted to the history of everyday life in this country over the past 150 years. As a continuation of the Time Tunnel Project, he is also leading the development of the TARASA project, which creates a unique and accessible system permitting the storage of any memory (text, photograph or video) without any form of cataloguing or prioritization, based on the affiliation of the memories to the appropriate time and place on a global digital map. The system offers a free and open arena, particularly for memories and voices from socially excluded sectors that have not enjoyed proper representation in mainstream collective memory
